A burkini swimsuit is full-fledged swimwear: made from chlorine-resistant, quick-drying swimsuit fabric and suitable for swimming pools, the sea, and swimming lessons. This distinguishes a burkini from regular clothing, which is usually not permitted in Dutch and Belgian swimming pools.

What does a burkini swimsuit consist of?

Why real swimwear fabric is important

Swimwear fabric (polyamide with elastane) absorbs hardly any water, dries quickly, and does not become heavy or transparent. Cotton does, and is therefore not permitted in most swimming pools.
